MESSAGE FROM THE HOD

Dean
Dr. Vikesh Kashyap is an accomplished academic and professional in the field of Hospitality and Tourism. With a robust career spanning over a decade, he has held key positions, including Associate Professor and Head of Department at prestigious institutions like Bahra University and Chandigarh Group of Colleges. He holds a Ph.D. in Tourism Studies from Himachal Pradesh University and an MBA in International Hotel and Tourism Management from Vatel International School, France. A prolific researcher, he has made substantial contributions to research, with publications in esteemed journals and with multiple book authorships. His work spans areas like creative tourism, community-based tourism, and sustainable practices in the Tourism and Hospitality industry. He is an active member of “The Indian Society for Technical Education” and has chaired sessions and co-convened International Conferences on Sustainable Development and Innovation in Hospitality and Tourism. In addition to his academic achievements, he has industry expertise, having worked with prestigious organizations, including Boscolo Plaza Hotel in France. His dedication to advancing the field is reflected in his patents, conference contributions, and initiatives in promoting tourism's economic and cultural dimensions.

During the session, students demonstrated their culinary skills by preparing a variety of dishes while adhering to industry standards of food preparation, hygiene, presentation, and teamwork. Hospitality & Tourism FAQs

Eligibility, specializations, industrial training and careers for hotel management and tourism programs at Bahra University, Shimla.

Programs in hospitality and tourism (such as degree and diploma courses in hotel management) require 10+2 in any stream with the minimum aggregate prescribed by the university. Admission is based on qualifying marks and/or BUSET.
The curriculum covers food production and culinary arts, food & beverage service, front-office operations, housekeeping, and travel & tourism management.
Graduates work with hotels and resorts, airlines and cruise lines, travel and event-management companies and hospitality startups, in roles such as chef, front-office/guest-relations executive, F&B manager and tour operator.
